Mooncakes 2013

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on 19 September this year, which is just two days later. Usually at this time of the year, there would be many hotels, restaurants and bakery shops selling their mooncakes at mooncake fairs in various shopping malls and at their own stores.

Last week, we went to Causeway Point and browsed around the atrium where the mooncake fair was located. I am always attracted by all those very fanciful and beautifully designed mooncake boxes. Hee! Hee!. Eventually, we decided to purchase 4 pieces of low sugar Lotus Paste Double Yolks mooncakes at the offer price of $38 from The Baker's Cottage. We could choose the type of boxes we wanted: four 1-piece boxes, two 2-piece boxes or one 4-piece box. I chose the two 2-piece boxes with magnetic clasps.

I liked this box because it was the right size to use for keeping small toys or other small items.

Then last Sunday, after having our dinner at a food court, I was attracted by the Hello Kitty mooncake boxes on display at Breadtalk. Sera was also fascinated by the box and went in to take a look. She was quite happy to find that there was a mirror in every box (Mini Mooncake Set and Hello Kitty Mini Mooncake boxes). Initially we thought she wanted the Hello Kitty Mini Mooncakes, so Ardon and I were quite surprised that she chose the Mini Mooncake Set. We were fine with buying another box of mooncakes since we did not have any of those flavours that were in the mini mooncake set.

Once we reached home, Sera immediately took out the mini mooncakes and used the box for her toys. I asked Sera why she chose the Mini Mooncake Set. I thought it was because she did not like the blue colour of the Hello Kitty box. She told me she liked the Mini Mooncake Set because the box was smaller.

"My Little Pony" Display Stand

My daughter, Sera, always liked to play with her "My Little Pony" toys on her desk, so I wanted to have a small display stand where she could put her little ponies neatly on her desk.

Yesterday, I had some extra cardboard so I thought it would be a good idea to do a display stand for Sera's toys. I cut and folded the cardboard to the right size, then used scotch tape to stick them together. After that, I wrapped it up with some wrapping paper. Here's the finished product with the "My Little Pony" toys on it.

《骤变》("Sudden")

《骤变》("Sudden") is a MediaCorp drama which started airing on Channel 8, on 2 September 2013, every Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

Each episode began with the days when Fang Qiliang (played by Romeo Tan) and Cheng Chuning (played by Rui'en) first got to know each either in Tasmania. Then the next scene was fast forward to the present.

The presentation of this drama serial is somewhat different from the usual. There were some flashes of scenes that created a certain mystery making us wonder what was in store.

In  Episode 4 to 5, Chuning and her colleagues attended a service one year after the final hearing of the murder case of Zhong Zhenglie. Joda (played by Darren Lim) was a founder/leader of a mission group which consisted of many rich and influential members. He Jianming - co-founder of the mission group - accused Joda of deceiving the followers by using donation funds for his personal gain. He Jianming even filed a case against him. This scene looked familiar...

So far it had been quite interesting to watch the 《骤变》("Sudden").
