Views from Singapore Flyer Capsule

I was going through some old photos and decided to make them into a slide show/video. These photos were taken on Christmas day of 2020, inside a Singapore Flyer Capsule.

Alive Museum Singapore

Alive Museum was a new attraction that opened in Singapore on 12 June 2014 at Suntec City Mall. We had wanted to go for quite some time.

Recently, we visited it on one of the weekdays as part of Sera's birthday celebration.

Sera and Lynn loved to use their penguin soft toys to pose with these 3D art pieces.

The kids decided that both Ardon and I should pose with the art pieces as shown below :).

Gardens by the Bay

Singapore celebrated its 50th birthday on 9th Aug 2015. We had a long weekend from 7 Aug to 10 Aug 2015. Many places of interest had SG50 promotions and events held during the Jubilee Weekend. Some events were even free to attend.

We planned to visit one of those places on 7 Aug 2015. However, on 7 Aug 2015, it was raining till about mid afternoon. It would not be a good idea to visit places that were too far from our house, that were outdoors and required paid admission since half the day was gone.

By the time we got ready to go out, it was already 5 pm. We decided to go to Gardens by the Bay since we had never been there ever since it opened.

In celebration of the Jubilee Weekend, all Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents would enjoy 50% off admission tickets to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest from 7-10 August. All Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents aged 60 years and above would also enjoy free entry to both Conservatories.

There was also a special edition of the Garden Rhapsody (SG50 Special) held from 6 - 10 Aug 2015 at 7:45 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:15 pm and 10:00 pm  to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday. This edition of the Garden Rhapsody presented nostalgic favourites from yesteryear sung by prominent local vocalists.

By the time we reached there, Sera was hungry so we had our dinner at MacDonald's.

Sera was happy to be able to purchase this SG50 edition of Hello Kitty from MacDonald's.

After dinner, we went to the ticketing counters and found that the queue was very long with a waiting time of about 40 minutes. We reckoned that after buying the tickets, there would not be much time left to walk around the conservatories as both of them closed at 9 pm. Thus we just walked around the area and went for the Garden Rhapsody (SG50 Special) held at the Supertree Grove at around 7.45 pm.

After the show, we caught glimpses of a fireworks display and we walked up a bridge towards the direction where the fireworks was seen but the fireworks stopped. It lasted less than 5 minutes :(. Since we were already up on the bridge, we stayed there for the next Garden Rhapsody. Below is a combined video of the Garden Rhapsody (SG50 Special) which was taken at the 7.45 and 8.30 pm show and taken from different angles. Enjoy!

Universal Studio Singapore

We finally visited Universal Studio Singapore at Resort World Sentosa last Sunday.

Universal Studio Singapore opened in 2010 at Resort World Sentosa. So what took us so long to visit it? Actually, I was waiting for Sera to grow up and, hence, taller so that she could go on most of the rides.

We drove the car into Sentosa. We parked the car at Beachfront Station and took the Sentosa Express to Waterfront Station.

After we purchased the tickets, we saw this before entering Universal Studio Singapore itself.

Yes, now Sera could ride most of the attractions. You can check the riders' guide on the Universal Studio Singapore website or just click here.

We had our lunch at Mel's Drive-In restaurant at the Hollywood zone. Halfway through our lunch, we saw some men singing at a small stage outside the restaurant. They were singing and dancing to rock-n-roll songs. What a great way to enjoy lunch!

I had intended to watch the Monster Rock Performance just opposite the restaurant after lunch but upon seeing the warning at the entrance, Lynn was not interested. The kids were concerned that the band might be too loud and deafening for their "delicate ears" :( .

Moving on to the New York zone, we saw characters from Sesame Street such as Elmo, Big Bird, Ernie and Bert singing and dancing at the steps outside the mock Public Library building.

We went back to the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase for the ride after watching the Sesame Street performance.

It was a slow moving ride suitable for young children too.

Accelerator

Lynn initially wanted to ride the Accelerator at the Sci-Fi zone. Upon seeing the spinning in action, she changed her mind. The spinning was so fast that she was worried that she might get dizzy.

Below were some pictures taken at the Ancient Egypt zone

Next we visited The Lost World zone.

Dino Soaring Ride

It was always a pity that we could not take pictures of ourselves when we were in the rides. Fortunately for Ardon and Sera, I managed to snap a shot of them when the ride stopped.

The next stop was the Far Far Away zone.

We had a 4-D film experience. This was our first 4-D movie. It sure was fun although the kids weren't too happy about being sprayed water :p.  It was also the kids' first visit to a movie theatre.

After this we went to watch the Hollywood Parade which started at 5.00 pm.

After that, we went back to the Madagascar zone for the carousel ride at King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round.

Adults could also ride on these, yay!

We did some souvenir shopping and then left Universal Studio Singapore.

The queue for the Sentosa Express was very long. A sign board showed that the waiting time was 20 minutes for the train to Beach Station. We walked to Imbiah station and had dinner at the KFC restaurant there.

After we had dinner, it was home sweet home.

S.E.A. Aquarium and Maritime Experiential Museum in Sentosa

Ardon had a voucher that we could exchange for admission tickets to some attractions in Singapore. After looking through all the options available and with December being the rainy season, we decided on the S.E.A. Aquarium. The S.E.A. Aquarium is an indoor attraction and is located inside Resort World Sentosa. We topped up another $32 to get 2 adult and 2 child tickets. The admission ticket to the S.E.A. Aquarium included admission to the Maritime Experiential Museum.

On 4 December when the weather was better (cloudy most of the time), we drove into Sentosa ($6 per entry from 2 pm to 5 pm on weekdays) and parked at the Beach car park ($3 for 1st 4 hours).

We took the Sentosa Express (free within Sentosa) from the Beach Station to Waterfront Station. Once out from the Sentosa Express Waterfront Station, we just followed the signboard and it took us about 5 minutes to reach the S.E.A. Aquarium.  We entered the S.E.A. through the entrance of the Maritime Experiential Museum.

The above are just a small part of the photos and videos that we have taken. You will be awed by the large species of marine life in the S.E.A. Aquarium.

Christmas Wonderland at City Square Mall

We reached City Square Mall just in time to see the "snow" coming down from the second floor of the mall.

After that, we brought the kids to the park at Level 1. As usual, we took some pictures with the Christmas decorations outside City Square Mall.

There were some games and rides at the park too. Each ride cost $4. For those who have spent more than $200 in City Square Mall, they would get a complimentary ticket.

The kids enjoyed the ride at the carousel.

The picture below is the spot where the Festive Light Show and Snowy Playtime take place every night at 8 pm and 9 pm from 15 Nov to 29 Dec 2013.
